King Felipe VI touched down at El Salvador International Airport shortly after noon, where he was greeted warmly by Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco and an official delegation from the Salvadoran government.
The monarch’s visit is part of a broader assembly of global leaders, underscoring the international significance of Bukele’s presidency.
The event, scheduled for June 1 at the National Palace in San Salvador, will mark the commencement of Bukele’s new term from 2024 to 2029.
In the build-up to the inauguration, various heads of state have also arrived. Notable among them are Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, Honduran President Xiomara Zelaya, Belizean Prime Minister John Briceño, and Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves.
Earlier today, President Bukele and King Felipe VI held a private meeting to discuss bilateral relations and mutual interests. Photographs of the meeting, shared by the Royal House of Spain on their official X account, highlight the collaborative spirit and friendly rapport between Spain and El Salvador.

This interaction aimed not only to reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the two nations but also to endorse Bukele’s governance.
